Progress progress…

August 30, 2007

More done on the knock through. Vic reckon’s he’s got one more “messy” day, then its just a case of adding a light switch and hanging the door.  Be glad when it’s done now, cos the house is covered in dust!  Oh, and I bought a Bosch circular saw today, so I’ll be able to do some nice straight cuts when I carry on with the cab on Saturday :)

Getting there…

Happy birthday to me!

August 29, 2007

Another year’s gone by and I’m another year older! Had a nice day today: Did a bit more of the cab and added the casters to the monitor frame (see pics below), met Kate in town on her lunch break (which was a nice surprise!) then I went and played 18 holes of golf with Tim at the Weald of Kent (I played ok too – finished up 18 over par, only 7 over for the back 9). Then tonight Kate and I went for a meal at Pauls restaurant in Folkestone. I had Steak strips on Lyonnaise potatoes with creamy peppercorn and brandy sauce (mmmmm…) and Kate had some salmon and pasta dish (well, she liked it!). All in all a very nice day, which I thoroughly deserved, seeing as though I’m THIRTY FOUR!!!!!!!!!

Casters on!     It fits!

More news from the building site…

August 28, 2007

Render is DONE! :) Looks really nice! We’ve decided to paint it white, which will match next door (but look cleaner), and will look really nice with our new front door (stay tuned!). Vic’s also making headway with the knock-through from the lounge to the kitchen. Will the work never end…..?

Like a glove!

August 27, 2007

After a few more jigsaw tweaks on the monitor frame, I got it to fit the monitor nice and snug! Next is to screw the monitor to it, and to put the casters on the back.

Re-rendering started…

August 27, 2007

Hooray at last they made a start re-rendering the front of our house! They’re at the half way stage now and have put the base coat on and scratched it all up ready to put the top nice coat on tomorrow :)

Getting Jiggy with it!

August 26, 2007

Just had time today to cut the monitor “seat” for the rotating monitor. Using the jigsaw seemed a lot easier today – maybe I’m just getting used to it. :)

Off to Spencer and Julia’s now for a barbeque. Hope the weather holds out!

The building has started

August 25, 2007

Got up early today (as Kate went into work to do overtime) and finally made a start on building my arcade cabinet. For those not in the know, I want to be able to play all the old arcade games on my own custom built cab, with a rotatable monitor and swappable control panels (so I can play all the horizontal and vertical arcade games, with the right controls).

Here’s a pic of my Sketchup plans for the cab…

Friday night…

August 24, 2007

Played golf with Tim and Dad after work. I played pretty shite really… started well then went downhill. My driving was ok, it was my short game around the green that was shocking. Played 10 holes on the top course at Etchinghill.  Although I played crap in general, I got 1 par, and I got a really nice birdie on the last hole. :)

Golf was promptly followed by takeaway curry (from the Clay Oven) at the Neshets, of which I had Chicken Tikka Dal Bhuna, Rice, and Tarka Dal (Kate may be in for a rough night). We ended up Simpsonizing ourselves on their PC.

Our lounge: the bomb site…

August 24, 2007

Here’s how our lovely lounge currently looks. We’re waiting on plastering, french doors, knock-through to kitchen, and fireplace relocation. Then we can think about decorating! It looks like a bomb has hit it at the moment…

Gamebase64 on YouTube!

August 24, 2007

Hahahaha look what someone did on YouTube… a tutorial/intro on using GB64 – the C64 games database that uses the frontend that I wrote (GameBase). This guy really sold it to me, I gotta admit, just listen to his soothing voice. LOL! :)
