Rotation works!!!
September 2, 2007Saturday
September 1, 2007Used a circular saw today for the first time ever. There were no injuries. Worked on the monitor base for the cab – I had to saw and glue 3 bits of ply together. Here’s a pic of it all clamped up while the glue is setting: -
Went out for a belated birthday meal at the Everest Inn in Hythe with everyone. Rob and Letitia came over too which was nice. Letitia only has 4 weeks to go now until Maia is born!
Progress progress…
August 30, 2007More done on the knock through. Vic reckon’s he’s got one more “messy” day, then its just a case of adding a light switch and hanging the door. Be glad when it’s done now, cos the house is covered in dust! Oh, and I bought a Bosch circular saw today, so I’ll be able to do some nice straight cuts when I carry on with the cab on Saturday
Happy birthday to me!
August 29, 2007Another year’s gone by and I’m another year older! Had a nice day today: Did a bit more of the cab and added the casters to the monitor frame (see pics below), met Kate in town on her lunch break (which was a nice surprise!) then I went and played 18 holes of golf with Tim at the Weald of Kent (I played ok too – finished up 18 over par, only 7 over for the back 9). Then tonight Kate and I went for a meal at Pauls restaurant in Folkestone. I had Steak strips on Lyonnaise potatoes with creamy peppercorn and brandy sauce (mmmmm…) and Kate had some salmon and pasta dish (well, she liked it!). All in all a very nice day, which I thoroughly deserved, seeing as though I’m THIRTY FOUR!!!!!!!!!
Like a glove!
August 27, 2007After a few more jigsaw tweaks on the monitor frame, I got it to fit the monitor nice and snug! Next is to screw the monitor to it, and to put the casters on the back.

Getting Jiggy with it!
August 26, 2007Just had time today to cut the monitor “seat” for the rotating monitor. Using the jigsaw seemed a lot easier today – maybe I’m just getting used to it.

Off to Spencer and Julia’s now for a barbeque. Hope the weather holds out!
The building has started
August 25, 2007Got up early today (as Kate went into work to do overtime) and finally made a start on building my arcade cabinet. For those not in the know, I want to be able to play all the old arcade games on my own custom built cab, with a rotatable monitor and swappable control panels (so I can play all the horizontal and vertical arcade games, with the right controls).
Here’s a pic of my Sketchup plans for the cab…

…and here’s what I did today: the rotating frame for the monitor…
